C. W. Spillman was born in Culpepper county, Virginia, October 12, 1823, and diedFebruary 21, 1908, aged 84 years, 4 months, and 10 days. Mr. Spillman moved with his parents to Kentucky when 5 years of age and there grew to manhood. He was married to Harriet Rowlet. To this union 7 children were born, three died in infancy and three are still living, the other one being the late T. N. Spillman.

Some time after his first wife's death he was married to Susan Walker. To this union were born 12 children, two died in infancy and 10 are living.

Mr. Spillman came to Missouri over 50 years ago when the first settlers had to endure many hardships and he has since lived in the community where he died. He was converted early in life and united with the Missionary Baptist church and lived a faithful and devoted life till death called him home.

The county has lost an honored citizen, the children a loving father and the church a devoted member and thus another good man has gone home.
